Our friend Molly is having a precious baby girl. In fact, she’s due this very weekend!! A few weeks ago, we threw Molly a “sprinkle.” For those of you who aren’t familiar with this term, a sprinkle is a baby shower for moms who have already had at least one child. They are a fun way for us to celebrate and help out friends who might have had a boy and are now having a girl but don’t have any girl goodies.
Molly’s color scheme for Norah’s room is lavendar, grey, black, and white. So obviously that was the sprinkle theme as well!
The banner and Etsy prints made the perfect backdrop for the shower – and they’ll look fabulous in baby Norah’s room!
Grape bellinis were definitely in order.
And these purple poms looked adorable as a centerpiece. After the shower, Molly was able to hang them in Norah’s room as well.
For the menu, we had delish appetizers, including my favorite bruschetta.
And these yummy chicken salad cups.
Here’s how you make them:
1. Take sliced whole wheat bread and cut the crusts off. Spray regular-sized muffin tins with nonstick spray. Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Flatten each piece of bread with your hand, then push each slice into its own muffin tin. Brush each one with olive oil, sprinkle some Kosher salt on them, and bake for about 5-10 minutes. Just until they are strong enough to hold their shape.
2. Shred a store-bought Rotisserie chicken. Mix in your favorite goodies. I generally choose mayo, dried cranberries, chopped walnuts or pecans, and grapes quartered.
3. Fill each bread “cup” with the mixture.
And finally, my mom made the most delish cupcakes. They made the perfect centerpiece for our other table.
The most important part of this shindig though, was showering baby Norah with gifts. Molly’s son Jack decided he needed to help open presents. Adorable.
I hope the Easter bunny was good to all. He sure was good to our family.
Liam, adorned with his snake face painting experienced Pop Rocks for the first time. The look on his face is priceless…woah, what is going on in my mouth right now look of amazement. His first response, “this is awesome!”.Dax was completely overjoyed when he heard that he got to go first in the family Easter egg hunt as the younger bunch got a head start out of the gates. Here is the Dax-yeah-that’s-right-I-get-a-head-start look…Jonah “jo jo” Bear, was busy maneuvering his larger than normal body all over the place, and ever so often, captured the ever elusive ball rejoicing in victory!I had the same feeling when I received my new “Focus Board”. I have been searching for a couple months now for the perfect solution that is stylish yet functional to host all of the weeks events in one place. Alas, I found Kimbees Creations shop on Etsy.
I messaged Kim and asked if I could place a special order to her “Motivational / Focus Board” she had posted and within no time she created our custom board.
Kevin and I sat down and picked out custom quotes, categories and layout. I emailed Kim to see if we could make it a bit larger and we got a custom proof back from Kim.
The print is 24×36 and I got the reclaimed wood frame at Hobby Lobby using my 40% off coupon. The print was only $45 dollars – what an amazing price for a custom piece! She even included a chalkboard marker that we write on the glass with and it cleans off easily with water.
I would HIGHLY recommend this if you are looking for a cleaver way to keep your family organized – especially if your husband is like mine loves lists or if you just have a busy life in general. You can tell, he was the first one to write on the board – his own illustrations included.
A bit about Kim, the fabulous owner and creator of Kimbees Creations – “I was a stay-at-home Mom for 22 years to my five children. Life changed, and I am now happily married with a large blended family, which includes my five and his two, four of whom are married, and have given us six grandchildren (with two more on the way!). Even though I am now working full time in education, family is my center. All of my creations and designs were originally created for family members, who then encouraged me to start an Etsy site. I continue to add new designs, based upon special requests.”
Huge high five to you Kim and thank you so much – we LOVE our Hall Family Focus Board!
You turned one year older and better on Monday! As one of the most creative people I know, searching for gifts is incredibly fun and challenging! Here are some of the top contenders, but you don’t get to know what you get until we get together to celebrate!
Since you and I both have a black thumb, I thought a simple terrarium could be a way for you to practice keeping plants alive in a small way.
This adorable piece of artwork caught my eye since you and your fabulous hubby met in L.A.
So remember when I told you that I was going to have my little man do an abstract painting for me – inspired by Kelly Wearstler? Well, we got some free time a couple weekends ago, and he got to work! Of course, he decided it was necessary to strip down to his undies to do it. Who am I to judge an artist on his process?
First, we covered an old painting I had with acryllic white paint. It took about four coats to get it done, but he was more than happy to help out. Then I just took plain, black acryllic paint and let him have at it. He loved making what he called the “twirly whirlies like the wind and zig zags.”
He was very proud of himself when it was all done. I have to say I am too. I’m in love with it.
I also got my iKea rug in that I told you about a few weeks ago! I’m so excited! It’s perfect for that space.
Now I just need to get my desk decorated, the painting on the wall, and the office is pretty much done. I’ll show the final, final late this month when I have the time to take really good photos of everything.
My sister-in-law is moving into a new apartment, so we’ve been talking a lot about how she wants to decorate it - I know you’re shocked. Tessa gravitates toward jewel tones, so we’re searching for the right throw pillows and art to bring her style into the new space. Here are some of her Pinterest faves…
I’m loving this direction she’s going and can’t wait to put it all together when she moves in!
